NEW CLASS POLICIES FOR THE BEADROOM

Pre-registration is required for all classes. The registration fee per class is $20 to be paid in cash at time of registration. This registration fee will apply to the class fee. The remainder of the class fee is to be paid in full in cash to the teacher at the beginning of your class. Attendance in class cannot be guaranteed without registration. If registering by phone, cash registration fee must be delivered to The Bead Room prior to the class date.

Walk ins are welcome if there is room but there is no guarantee of a place in the class without pre-registration.

24-hour cancellation notice is required; the class fee will be forfeited without this notice.

We supply the tools you need on the evening of the class; you are encouraged to bring your own tools if you have them.

Class fees do not include beads/supplies (unless noted otherwise) – a discount will apply to all beads/tools/supplies purchased for any class. You are welcome to bring your own beads and supplies if you prefer.

We ask that you come in at least ½ hour prior to the scheduled class time to pick out your beads; this will insure classes beginning and ending on time. You are welcome to purchase your supplies ahead of time; let the person at the register know you are taking a class and you are making purchases for that class to receive the appropriate discount.

If no one reserves space in a class within 48 hours of the class date, then the class will be cancelled. Be sure to check the website for possible class changes or call to check the status. Class dates and contents are subject to change.

Private classes offered by request.  $5.00 will be added to the class fee for all private classes.

Classic Pearl Knotting and Advanced Wire Wrapping classes are offered by appointment with Rene.  Call for info and prices.

If there is something you wish to learn but do not see it on our schedule don't be shy.  Just call and inquire; we are sure to have a teacher who can help you!

WAMPUM AT THE BEAD ROOM

WHAT IS WAMPUM?                                                                                                                                                Wampum are traditional, sacred shell beads of Eastern Woodlands tribes. They include the white shell beads fashioned from the North Atlantic channeled whelk shell; and the white and purple beads made from the quahog, or Western North Atlantic hard-shelled clam. Woven belts of wampum have been created to commemorate treaties or historical events, and for exchange in personal social transactions, such as marriages.

WE ACQUIRED A SELECTION OF WAMPUM PENDANTS, DISCS, AND BEADS HAND CRAFTED FROM THE QUAHOG SHELL.

THE WAMPUM WAS CREATED BY MARK SOUTHLAND, NATIVE AMERICAN ARTISAN

Vangie Collins Lampwork

Vangie is one of our resident lampwork creators.  Her focal beads are beautiful:  colorful, exciting, inventive, and inspirational.   These beads will be a great addition to any of your beadwork creations, or wear them on a simple cord or chain.  Any way you choose to use them they are sure to grab  attention.  Come in and check out these really beautiful focal beads!   Her beads are little works of art and her prices are really great!

We also have Vangie's "Twist and Switch" lampwork bead holders.  With this you can switch your focal at any time.  Change looks at will!

Vangie is local to Nashua; we are proud to represent her work at The Bead Room.

CELLINI SPIRAL

Instructor - Natasha

Technique: The Cellini Spiral is a variation of tubular peyote. Master beader Virginia Blakelock is credited with the creation of this technique naming it after 16th century sculptor Benvenuto Cellini. A gradual increase and decrease in bead sizes forces the spiral. This class will focus on technique only; there is no project to complete. Once you learn the technique you will be free to use your imagination and create whatever you like! This is an Intermediate class, beadweaving (especially peyote) experience is required.

Monday        December 20      6 - 8 PM

NETTED ROPE BRACELET

                                                 Instructor - Charna

Create this nice little bracelet seen in some of the recent beading magazines using Japanese seed beads and Swarovski crystals. This is a great class for beginning bead weavers as well as those who have some experience. The pattern is easy to follow. This versatile pattern can also be used to create matching earrings and a necklace. Though the pattern is easy to learn, it can be time-consuming at first. Don't worry. If you aren't able to finish during class time, you will learn all the skills necessary to begin and end the beaded rope and to add a clasp so you can complete this bracelet at home.
